Three fabulously festive makeup looks made easy? We've got you. If you're looking for tips on how to shine brighter than the lights on your Christmas tree this year, look no further – we've teamed up with Boots to provide you with some super-simple (and stunning) makeup looks you'll love.
The festive season is looming and we are so excited. Thanks to restrictions being more relaxed this year (we hope!), parties are likely to be bustling like never before, so it's time to whip out your glitziest party dress and get ready to dance the night away.
Choosing a dress is the easy part, but selecting and executing the perfect makeup look? Well, it feels like a more difficult task. It needn't be, and thanks to our partnership with Boots, we're bringing you all the festive inspiration you'll need for your makeup looks this year.
Here are three fabulously festive makeup looks:
1: The Purple Smoky Eye
Glam with an edge, this look is our go-to for making a bold statement this festive season. Perfect for parties and get-togethers, this look combines glowing skin with rock ’n’ roll eyes.
If you’re using the UD palette, start off with the base, using a small brush to apply the shade Delirious all over the eyelid.
Then blend Baby I’m A Star in the crease and underneath the lower lash to darken and accentuate. Always keep the darkest point at the lash line to keep the makeup modern and fresh – it'll also draw attention to the eyes.
Then pack the shade DmSR on to the centre of your lids to highlight, before using Raspberry Berry around the edge and blend outwards.
It's time for some added smudginess. Use the MAC Eye Kohl Pencil to line your lids using a smudging brush. If you're after a more dramatic look, draw a tight line with the kohl pencil for extra definition.
Add a shimmering, soft gloss if you want a shiny lip for added festive feels.
2: Festive Burgundy Lip
Understated yet impactful, this bold burgundy look is perfect to team with a glamorous LBD while attending office parties or sit-down dinners. With winged liner and groomed brows, this dark lip is a classic look you can wear time and again.
For the eye look, use the Collection Eye Palette Parisian Pinks. Here they used the XOXO, First Kiss and J'adore shades. Apply a base wash with XOXO, before using First Kiss in the crease and outer corner, and J'adore along the lash line, graduating outwards.
Using the MAC Liquidlast 24-Hour Waterproof Liner, apply at the outer corner at a 45-degree angle and follow inwards – blending in with the lash line as you go.
Coat your top and bottom lashes with the KVD Beauty Go Big or Go Home Volumizing Mascara, before adding some false lashes. Apply glue on the line of Ardell Wispies Eyelashes, wait a few seconds for the glue to become tacky and place on top of the liner using tweezers. Once dry, apply one coat of mascara to blend.
After your eyes are defined, it's time to contour and highlight using the NYX Professional Makeup Highlight & Contour Pro Palette. Swipe a darker shade on your cheek bone and blend towards the hairline for a lift. Use the lighter contour colours on the higher part of the cheek.
Lips
Now for the main event – the beautifully bold burgundy lip. Make sure your lips are hydrated first by using a hydrating balm. Then use a matching plum-hued lip liner to outline your lips before going in with the lipstick.
Start off by blotting MAC Satin Lipstick in Amorous on the centre of your lips. Working outwards, use a lip brush to blend it in with your lip linerfor a seamless base.
Then apply Beauty Bakerie Lip Whip Matte in Cranberry Stiletto for an intense finish and long-lasting results (yes, even when you're masked up).
Beautifully executed, this day-to-night look is perfect for wearing to work before glamming it up to head out in the evening. From the glowy base to the blue accents around the eyes – this versatile look will have all eyes on you this party season.
Use two shades from the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour collection to prime the lids. Try Kiss From A Rose as a base and Rose Thorn to add depth to your outer corners – applying in a V shape.
If you're happy with a muted look for daytime wear, stop right there! Otherwise, keep reading for the next steps that will transform the look into something uber-glamorous and chic – perfect for parties and hitting the town.
Tah-dah! You're all set for whatever the winter season brings your way. Parties? Dinners? Cocktails? We've got your back with these super-versatile (and easy-to-achieve) makeup looks.
